The Commission has run a case against Google for more than three years, and the search giant is brief, accused of prioritizing search results in an anti-competitive way, so Google's own services will have a distinct advantage.
In October 2013 as it otherwise appears that the case would land softly when Joaqin Almunia, EU competition commissioner in the EU, voiced their support for the latest release from Google. However, it was before all the details were published.
"The proposal does not remove our concerns about fair competition and especially in relation to the way in which Google's competitors are treated in search results," says Joaqin Almunia, who also notes that about 100 of Google's competitors have reacted negatively frosty boy to the proposal.
The refusal opens up the third round of negotiations for a settlement of the case, which has lasted unusually long for forligssag. Joaqin Almunia said that Google still has some time left to come up with a satisfactory offer, but that soon it's time to make a decision.
